Perspective of A Layover by Shea Brewer

Garden time, especially when I’m alone, is quiet time, quiet enough that the small still voice can be heard.

Still in my PJ’s with bare feet in the dirt, I  was mindlessly picking  straggler weeds when a conversational thought flowed in.

In the midst of picking weeds, my thoughts began to speak to me. ” You are going to have a layover. So prepare for a layover. Now, with airplane travel, there are two ways to look at a layover. You can look at it as a meaningless and exhausting timewaster that delays your final destination.   Or a layover can be a blessing, it’s a time to stretch your legs, get a breath of fresh air,  a time to re-fuel spiritually ( get a bite to eat/drink) ,  a time to eliminate- purify.  ( use the bathroom).

After the layover message came through, I straightened my back up with weeds in hand and acknowledged the thought with a uh huh. I knew immediately that this conversational thought flowed directly from the throne from the holy spirit, intending to pacify me during my transition between careers and homes.

My thoughts seemed to respond:  ” You’re right, I need to look at this layover as s positive experience. Thank you for reminding me to keep a positive perspective on life layovers. I must trust your timing and process.”

None of us like the hurry up and wait game. In fact, waiting can be harder than just knowing the outcome.   It’s easy to feel anxious about the unknown, especially when income, marital status or health is a concern.  If you are waiting on YHWH:  How do you think Pappa is scoring you on your trust and faith during your current layover?

Spiritual Examination: Are you waiting on something or someone? Do you feel like something is being stalled out? Are you in a life transition that has you worried about uncertainty? How is your perspective on your waiting period? What could you be doing to grow  and stay positive during this period? Are you allowing yourself to resting enough or are you sleeping too much? Are you praising, praying, preparing, worshipping and serving enough?

Prayer: Father, I praise you for this transitional time. I know that you love me and that you have a perfect plan for my future. I acknowledge that you have my best interest at heart. Your timing is perfect, as is your love for me.  Help me not rationalize, worry or be impatient as you work.  You are my provider, my security, my hope and my Savior, under your wings I take refuge. Help me to stay positive and faithful as I joyfully wait on your clear divine path.  In your precious Son’s name, Yahshuah ( Jesus). Amen

Scriptures to Examine:

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Declaration: I declare that you have special plans for me. I will trust your timing.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths

Declaration: I declare that I will not worry or be anxious or try to reason. I acknowledge that you will lead me to down the perfect path.

James 5:7-8

Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

Declaration: I will be patient as I wait. You will strengthen my heart as you move all the moving parts in place.

I have a passion and compassion for people, and I love YHWH ( God) with all my heart and soul. It is my higher calling to share the teachings and love of Jesus (Yahshua) through: writing, praying, teaching and public speaking. In the Mighty name of our Messiah, through the Holy Spirits help, I passionately help set captives free from strongholds. Together with His Power, we destroy the enemy and his schemes. This frees you to live a purposeful, joyful and fulfilling life for Christ.
