Is the “I’ll in Your Life Making you ill? “

Significant Signs:  God’s way of Getting Your Attention!

Ever noticed that I’ll and ill are so similar? When we trust in ourselves instead of God, it seems that we end up ill! We are either mentally drained, exhausted or physically ill! You’ll find that trying to control everything, including the lives of others; can really make you sick. You feel drained, helpless and tired!

How about the word tired and Tried…look how similar the words! Same letters, just mix them up a bit. Putting all the effort in yourself with the, “I tried this” or “I tried that” is just going to make you TIRED!

Speaking of tired, my friend has been depressed with both her personal and business life. Nothing has seemed to go her way lately despite her desperate prayers to God. She’s been going to a new church, different than the one she has gone to for years just searching for an answer. Last weekend, she went to a big church of over 4,000 members.

As she listened, the preacher began to speak to her! He said, “Are you exhausted?” He said, “Imagine that there is a hotel up in the sky. It is the best hotel in the world with fluffy pillows, the most comfortable bed, offering the best rest you’ve ever had in your life. The best part of all is that it is Free ,and it is yours if you want to go!”

He then went on to say, “God can give you that rest. You can find rest in Him. If you feel led to come to the front to give yourself to Christ for the first time or renew your relationship with Christ, come up.”

The Holy Spirit was tugging on my friend’s heart and before long she found herself walking to the front of the huge congregation, recommitting herself to Jesus.

Soon they took her to a back room where a nice lady began to pray with her. She told the lady that she always knew God was on her shoulder but something was wrong. Every time she prayed nothing happened. It had been a series of one bad event after another; what was wrong? Time and time again she thought something great was about to happen in her life; then it would fall apart.

The Holy Spirit spoke through the lady at church. My friend was not letting GOD be in the driver’s seat of her life. As soon as He started to drive and take control of her life, my friend would ignore that inner voice, try to take over, doing what she wanted to do and thus self-sabotage! It seemed as if God said to her “Okay, you seemed to think you have it under control here, so I’ll just let you drive! You can play God.” As they departed from the prayer room, my friend asked the lady to give her some bible scriptures. The lady wrote 3 passages in her bible.

My friend and I have been talking quite a bit lately. And early this week she called me and told me about standing up at church but didn’t tell me anything about the scriptures written in her book. We talked about some very serious things in her life and the urge to pray for her was placed on my heart.

Yesterday early in the morning, I prayed for my friend. I held my bible tight as I prayed for her. I asked the Lord to speak through me and lead me to the scripture that was right for my friend. The page that it opened to was: Isaiah 40:28-31. It was early, but I was excited to let her know what God’s message was for her. I called around 7am; she was not really awake. But I told her I was excited to read the passage that God had picked out for her, so wake up!

So I started reading. “The Lord is an everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagle; they will run and not grow weary, the will walk and not be faint. “Isaiah 40: 28-31.

Her voice started to perk up, “What is that passage again? That’s weird, the lady at the church the other day said for me to read something in Isaiah. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Let me go get my bible. She wrote it in the bible.”

Bible in hand, she was finally awake, “You’re not going to believe this! The first scripture she wrote for me to read in my bible is the same one that God gave you today for me! That’s crazy. What are the chances?”

" God speaking through us!"

I said, “There are 2,335 pages in my bible not counting the glossary and everything in the back. God just gave you a sign! He confirmed that He’s with you! What an incredible sign! How exciting!”

For the rest of the day I was on cloud 9, what a blessing it is for HIM to speak his word through me, and it to be so dead on! What a wonderful God that answers our prayers when we are faithful and let HIM be in control! God has a way of getting our attention. We just have to ready and willing to listen. It was not by chance that I landed on that page. It was God that led me to that exact page in the bible. The one he picked out especially for my friend.

She had tried. She had said “I’ll” makes this or that happen. Now she was TIRED and ill about it. The only way to stop that is to let HIM take control!

When we are still enough to hear his voice over our own voice, then and only then will HE work in our life. He wants us to come to Him and to give him credit and glory for all the blessings in our life. It’s not our accomplishments or blessings, it’s HIS accomplishments through us! He wants us to glorify Him for the good in our life.

And when the roads get rough and we need a great driver, we turn to HIM, Trust HIM because he is the PERFECT Driver!
